Lit for Littles Foundation
Nurturing a Love of Reading in Every Child

What We Do
Lit for Littles Foundation was created to nurture a love of reading in young children through inclusive, engaging, and community-centered experiences. Founded by Tessie Butler, a librarian, mother of twins, and early literacy advocate, the organization was built from a passion for making literacy accessible, joyful, and meaningful for all families. What started as a simple vision—bringing books, music, and connection into shared community spaces—has grown into a movement focused on early learning, representation, and belonging.
Our storytimes are intentionally designed to be warm, welcoming, and developmentally supportive, especially for diverse learners and families from all backgrounds. Through music, movement, and interactive learning activities, we create culturally inclusive experiences that celebrate the richness of diverse storytelling. We believe that every child deserves access to quality early literacy experiences and the support to thrive as a reader and learner.
